The squat grease drums that sit beside the running rail on the approach to curves. Hinged lid, two hinge lugs on the side and a line snaking away to the rail head. Once you have seen one, you see them everywhere.
What's in the pack
- 10 or 25 wheel flange lubricators, depending on the pack you choose
- About 6.6 mm across the lid and 5.5 mm tall
- Bone white PLA, ready to fit or paint
Why you'll like them
A flange lubricator is a grease reservoir alongside the running rail, with a feed line across to an applicator on the rail head. They go where flange-to-rail contact wears the rail hardest, so a few on the approach to a curve, rather than out on straight track, is a small touch that makes the lineside look right. The pack of 25 is better value per lubricator if you have plenty of curves to dress.
Simple to fit
- Prime and paint. Give each a light key and a coat of primer. A bright body with a dark grey lid reads well from normal viewing distance.
- Fix down with superglue or any modelling adhesive that suits PLA.
- Settle them in. A wash of track grime over the lower half blends them into the ballast.
